The Critical Process: Internet Memes

Description: I watched a video called Once Upon A Time which was first poted on vimeo.com . In the video their is a little girl who looks to be about 5 years old who speaks french. The little girl is being tapped in her living room by her mother while she is telling you a story. Her mother was the one who posted the video. The story she tells is extremely ridiculous involving many different types of animals. As the little girl continues her story the story that she is tellling becomes more bizzarre and outrageous. Their are captions in english that appear at the bottom of the screen to allow you to understand what the little girl is saying.

Analysis: I think people watch this video mostly because they like the ridiculous story that shes telling. People also might tend to watch this video because the little girl is adorable an people think that she is cute. I think people might watch this video over some other types of videos i have watched involving foreign children because the little girl is being cute and acting like a child. Where in other videos children are doing stupid things and getting themselves hurt. Some people dont find a little child getting hurt funny but they do find a child being very adorable and innocent someting they enjoy watching.

Interpretation: In the video the little girl seems much smarter than her years. She can speak french extremely well and she has a vivid imagination. How popular this viral video is becoming tells you that peole have alot more intellect then we think. Instead of watching someone make a total fool out of themselves people are deciding to watch a little girl tell a story without any innapropriate things happening. Its evidence that people arent as immature as we previoulsy thought.

Evaluation: I think that this video isn’t worth spreading around the web. Even though the little girl is being adorable it is realy annoying to read captions at the bottom of the screen every time she speaks. Since i dont speak french it basically sounds like the little girl is saying the same things over and over again which really get annoying. Her actual story was the only thing that wasnt that bad. Her ridiculous story and her childhood innocence made the story pretty funny.
